Hello and welcome to Keyah Design!

My inspiration for creating Keyah Design and pedicure footwear came by way of divine intervention. I have always been interested in design and have had a yearning to run my own business since I was in my '20s.

One evening in 2007, I was inspired by an idea for pedicure footwear. From then on I was off and running, researching and developing, and Keyah Design was born.

"Keyah" is my family name backwards. In honour of my family's heroic pursuits, I dedicate Keyah Design to them. At the age of 58, my father took a huge step to change the course of his family's life.  With my mother and their five children we travelled from the East to the West, leaving behind his secure professional employment, home, possessions and all the familiarity of family and friends to embrace the unknown, arriving in Australia in 1970. Starting from scratch, he made a new life for our family.

By designing footwear, I was venturing into unknown territory but the fact that it is new is an exciting and fantastic challenge. During my research I discovered there were no pedicure footwear designs happening in Australia and certainly nothing available internationally that was stylish, comfortable and fashionable. I registered the design worldwide, Australia, Registration no. 18963/2007, U.S.A patent no. US00D591487S and Europe registration nbrs. 000859814-001/002.

I've worked with some wonderful and supportive people along the way who have assisted me with the development of the footwear and I am full of gratitude to them. Throughout I strived to create footwear of quality and comfort, which is also fun and fashionable.

It has been a wonderful journey and the one thing that has given me courage while striking out on my own is that every step has felt right, no matter what setbacks or obstacles I've faced. Finding the right manufacturer and overcoming production hurdles such as the perfection of the toe dividers was worth it to create a product I was proud of. Optimism, determination, enthusiasm and patience have brought me here!

Positive energy propels me along and while I'm not afraid of risks, it was vital to find the right opportunity by listening and trusting in something bigger than me. I would like the message of Keyah Design to be one of inspiration. "Be not afraid of growing slowly but be afraid of standing still." A wise proverb indeed!
