Tips

Keyah Design pedicure footwear first wear tips:

  1. When first wearing Keyah Design pedicure footwear, toe dividers may initially feel firm, however
  2. Allow at least 5 minutes of wear and walk around in so your feet warm up and will then mould to your foot shape.
  3. DO NOT lift or raise your toes when walking - just think you are walking in normal shoes.
  4. PLEASE follow above tips and you will truly appreciate the comfort feel and therapeutic wear of your Keyah Design pedicure footwear.
Additional benefits:
  • Therapeutic to wear - we need to give our toes some separation especially since most of us are in closed shoes most of the day.
  • The toe separators will relax your toes as generally people clench their toes when wearing open sandals.
  • When you apply heel cream, it retains the softness in your heels.

Tips before your next salon visit:

Before you head out for your next salon pedicure, be aware of the importance of pedicure hygiene. The NSW Health has put together a factsheet on manicure and pedicure treatments hygiene standards.

Listed below are some helpful tips. (Referenced from Inernational Pedicure Association (IPA))

  1. Is the pedicure area, pedicure thrones (whirlpool) and salon / spa clean?
  2. Are the nail technicians/pedicurist licensed?
  3. Is the pedicurist part of an organization whose sole mission is to promote safer and quality pedicures through education and support?
  4. Does the pedicurist examine your feet and ask you a few relevant health questions, with documentation, in order to clear you for a pedicure?
  5. Ask the pedicurist how they clean the pedicure tub (whirlpool), and how often.
  6. Does the nail technician use obviously clean implements that are disinfected after each client ?
  7. Is your pedicurist using the proper tools for your pedicure?
  8. Consumers should not shave their legs or have any open wounds on the legs or feet before the pedicure. Very small nicks in the skin can allow bacteria to enter during a whirlpool, and can be a source of infection.
  9. Manicurist/pedicurists should wash their hands with soap and water before touching a clients hands/feet. It is also recommended that a pedicurist use gloves for both the clients and their protection.
  10. The salon / spa should have adequate ventilation and air cleaning equipment.
  11. A freshly laundered towel or new disposable towel with polyback lining should be used on each client.
